Daily Devotional Guide- Studies in becoming fully developing followers of Christ By: Pastor Leo Genota CORE VALUE: LOVE This devotional guide is a tool for personal devotion, small group discussion or family altar time TODAY’S MESSAGE: ( Monday June 16,2008) The God-kind of Father :
It seems that many men today are shrinking from their God-given responsibilities and role ; and so God is calling today's men to rise up and become God's kind of men. What does God expect from a human father? READING: 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12 “ we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children. We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. Surely you remember, brothers , our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed. For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with each of his children, encouraging , comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his Kingdom and glory” CORE THOUGHT: God wants fathers to be able to express genuine love to their wives and children Important Points: The Bible said “ God is love and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God” ( 1 John 4:16b). In what ways can a father show his love for his wife? for his kids?
One way a father can show love to his family is by spending time with them.Explain why they say “ Love is spelled T.I.M.E “ Do you agree that fathers still have so much to learn about love? Why? Why not? Read Luke 15:11-32( The Parable of Prodigal son), what can you learn about the Father's love in this passage? God the Father's love assures us that his love for us is everlasting. Is there anything that can separate us from God's love?( Read Rom. 8:35) PRAYER FOR THE DAY: Pray for yourself( for your needs, concerns ,spiritual growth etc.) IV. DOING THE DISCIPLINE: Now let’s apply the word of God in our life. Thinking about what we learned and read today · Is there any sin to confess? · Is there any attitude to change? · Is there any principle to obey? · Is there any habit to develop? V. MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 8:35“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?shall tribulation , or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or the sword? ” Write your thoughts in a journal or notebook so that you can keep track of your spiritual progress. God may give you revelation as you keep your heart open to the word of God and to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Last update : Tuesday, 17 June 2008
