There is much hope for great change in today's politics. State politics will not change for the better until first a significant remnant of those calling themselves Christians repent and change toward the goodness of God. When enough believers make a significant spiritual change or growth in the following areas below, our overall politics will change substantially. The purpose of seeking such changes should not be primarily to change today's nation though they will have that effect, but it should be to please the leader in the Government of God. Our nation will be blessed and will be healed if we return to God's ways.
SOME NEEDED SPIRITUAL CHANGES · In humility we must increase our reverence and obedience to the spiritual laws of the Judeo-Christian God.
· We must learn and understand the true nature of God by earnestly studying His word, the Holy Bible, on a continual and consistent basis. Then we must act upon His word.
· We must remember to “forsake not the fellowship of the saints.” We must fellowship in healthy well-balanced church communities and not be “go it alone” Christians. All of the commandments of Christ must be our spiritual compass, including for us to fellowship with, encourage, edify and love one another. We must also obey His commands to confess our sins to one another and when necessary admonish one another in love.
· We must put on our spiritual armor and fight the evil inspired temptations that arise when we simply come together for the purpose of ungodly socializing. The resulting attacks that must be conquered include, gossip, bickering, slander, and other things that bring down churches.
· We must abide in Christ and obey His commands to feed the poor, clothe the naked, visit the elderly and the lonely and imprisoned, etc.
· We must offer ourselves to God by humbling ourselves to the earthly spiritual authorities (Pastor & Elders) provided for spiritually equipping of the saints. With the Holy Spirit as our guide we must consume the spiritual food God provides for our growth. This nourishment gives us the abundant energy we need to win the battles of spiritual warfare and to love one another.
· With great preparation we must humbly evangelize as God provides opportunities.
· Marriage o We must deeply root ourselves in this God ordained institution by humbly obeying his command to submit to one another in His Love. This is the basis for real spiritual growth and lasting marriages. Obedience in this area would have very powerful consequences in changing our nation.
o The roles of the husband and the wife in the marriage must be understood from a Christian perspective and adhered to.
Parents must understand and raise their children up right, in the principles of Christ, protecting them from the evils of this world.
· Stewardship o Family finances must be managed wisely, within Biblical principles.
o Non-married individuals must manage their finances wisely.
o All Christians must make a real effort to set aside the right amount of money to support their local church.
o All must make a real effort to also sacrificially give their time and talent to God.
o In the power of the Spirit we must strive to be living manifestations of the fruit of the Spirit in everything we do. (Jobs, fellowship with church, hanging out with non-church family and/or friends, etc.)
· Christians must humbly participate in State government politics from a mature spiritual perspective. HOPE Our final hope is not in the politics of this world. The legacies of even the greatest politicians or political systems will eventually fade away and be remembered no more. Ultimately all of the governments of this world are doomed to fail because of the sinful nature of man. ("Pride comes before the fall.") The items above are just a sample of areas that we should emphasize in our lives, not just to change today's world, but to be shining examples of the Grace of God so that others too may be led to His heavenly government. Real and effective political change for the people of today is found in God's Kingdom of today and tomorrow and forever. "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." |
